By now you realize that I LOVE holidays! I typically spend weeks preparing for the special day… and as you may assume… that means plenty of quality Pinterest time! I enjoy the planning, shopping, and creativity that goes into each holiday. This year was a little unique as we currently have our home on the market in preparation for our farmhaus build. Thankfully, we have had multiple appointments to view the house. On the other hand, I spend a lot of time each day cleaning while stashing anything and everything I can! Needless to say, I am behind on my planning! This little leprechaun had only a couple of days to plan for this years festivities.
With each year that goes by the kids get older and I realize that time is limited with my mysterious leprechaun shenanigans… however, I am soaking up every bit of fun while it lasts! I especially like to watch the kids reactions when they get surprised with something fun I had planned and this year was no exception! Each year my kids have enjoyed collaboratively creating their leprechaun traps. They actually spend a lot of time thinking about how to trap that sly leprechaun. This year the traps were adorned in GOLD, and lots of it!!
And wouldn’t you know… that sneaky leprechaun outsmarted them again! Ha! Looks like that leprechaun walked all over the trap… but wasn’t tricked!
As not to break tradition I decorated our kitchen nook for the big day. The weather has been in the high 70’s all week and I thought it was a perfect time of year to plant something green. Being that it was St. Patrick’s Day, I opted to plant dark dancer clover. I love the way this clover has a burst of purple in the center with green tips. Just in case you are wondering… we do have a bet on who will be the first to find the four leaf clover! I am pretty sure this clover is not long for this world when my kiddos get home from school! Hee Hee.
I just love the way this freshly planted clover livens up the center of our table! Do you remember this chair? I told you it would be used again! Since I change my decor around often, I love when I find a staple piece that can be used from season to season! The chippy paint from the chair is the perfect complement to the chippy, rusted plant holder. And what would a St. Patrick’s Day table be without some gold? I piled all of the gold coins into a glass hurricane on the chippy chair and scattered the remaining coins about the table. Of course these were chocolate coins… a true leprechaun never gives up their loot! A couple of fun beaded necklaces were placed in and around the hurricane filled with gold. The teacher in me always tries to find a story to connect to our special day… so this year, The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day was our bedtime story! To top it all off… Lucky Charms! Yet another tradition in our house. This is the only time of year I allow this sugary cereal for breakfast… but hey… the leprechaun made me do it! I filled my small recycled glass pitcher with milk for the cereal. I am LOVING all of the recycled glass I have been finding and I pick it up every time I get a chance! I do believe it is the perfect shade of green and I didn’t have to put green dye into their milk! Yes… you can roll your eyes… I am one of THOSE moms!
All we need now are a couple of leprechaun hunters!
The morning brought a lot of fun giggles as the kids roamed the house looking for signs that the leprechaun had truly been here!
It was a fun morning for all of us…
